Common name:Italian Cypress
Botanical name:Cupressus sempervirens 'Stricta'

Italian Cypress is often associated with Italian and Spanish architecture, providing columns in the landscape. They often reach 60' tall. 'Stricta' is compact, columnar and produces long, straight branches with deep green foliage.

Silver Arrow Miscanthus

Common name:Silver Arrow Miscanthus
Botanical name:Miscanthus sinensis 'Silberfeder'

Miscanthus sinensis 'Silberfeder' grows 5'-6' tall and wide. The bright green foliage has an attractive silver streak throught the middle of each leaf. The flowers shoot up 2'-3' above the foliage. Tall grasses are highly combustible.

Blue Moor Grass

Common name:Blue Moor Grass
Botanical name:Sesleria caerulea

This grass will grow to about 18"-24"tall and 18"-24" wide. It has bluish green or gray green leaves.

American Arborvitae

Common name:American Arborvitae
Botanical name:Thuja occidentalis

This evergreen tree will grow 30'-60' tall and 10'-15' wide. It has small, scaled, light green leaves that turn brown in severe cold weather. This is a highly combustible plant.

Sustainable Fertilization

If you mulch heavily as recommended in the compost and mulch fact sheets you should not need traditional fertilization. Sustainable landscapes fertilize themselves as soil organisms break down and recycle the dropped leaves into nutrients.
